Nestled in the heart of the beautiful Angus Glens, The Wandering Bear is a family-run café, lodge and farm shop created with love, laughter and a passion for good food.

The Wandering Bear is owned and run by husband and wife team Lauren and Calum, with very important daily input from their two young “directors”, Arthur and Lucy. While they may be small, they are mighty — master tasters of new menu ideas, enthusiastic helpers with design decisions, and firm quality controllers when it comes to cake! From choosing seasonal treats to testing hot chocolates, our children are at the heart of what we do.

Family means everything to us, and we’ve created a space that feels just like that — relaxed, welcoming and full of warmth.

Surrounded by rolling hills, open countryside and the peaceful beauty of Lintrathen, The Wandering Bear is a place to slow down and enjoy simple pleasures. Whether you’re stopping in after a walk, gathering with friends for brunch, or visiting with muddy boots and wagging tails, you’ll always find a friendly face and a cosy atmosphere waiting.

Inside, the café is warm and inviting. Outside, you can enjoy fresh air and stunning views from our covered seating area — perfect in every season.

Fresh Food, Made with Care

Our menu celebrates hearty breakfasts, relaxed brunches, light lunches and plenty of home baking. Wherever possible, we use local produce and seasonal ingredients, supporting other small businesses and farms in our community.

From freshly baked scones and cakes to comforting savoury dishes, everything is prepared with care. We always offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, and we’re happy to accommodate dietary needs wherever we can.

Café, Lodge & Farm Shop

Beyond the café, we are proud to offer Lodge at Lochside, our on-site accommodation, allowing guests to fully unwind and enjoy the tranquillity of the glens. Our farm shop stocks a thoughtful selection of local produce, artisan goods and everyday favourites — perfect for taking a little piece of The Wandering Bear home with you.

At The Wandering Bear, we want you to feel as though you’re visiting friends — where conversations flow easily, children are welcome, dogs are fussed over, and no one has to do the washing up.
